Caring for your candle

Caring for your candle

Tara McLaughlin
I often receive inquiries from people eager to learn how to maximize their candle experience, ensuring they burn evenly, emit delightful fragrances, and
avoid tunnelling.
There are several key steps to follow, starting from the very first time you light your candle and continuing with its ongoing care.
At Woodland & Bloom, we have dedicated the last two years to extensive testing to ensure that, when lit properly, our candles will not tunnel. Each of our home-scented candles is crafted with care, hand-poured, and packaged with love.
I've compiled some essential candle care tips for my customers, but please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
I’m always excited to chat about candles!

Candle Care:

🕯️Burn your candle for a minimum of 3 hours, or until the wax has melted to the edge of the glass. This helps to imprint the candle’s memory and prevent an uneven burn.
🕯️Keep your candle burning gently by trimming the wick to ¼ inch. A wick that’s too long will smoke and burn faster, while a wick that’s too short won’t burn as well. A beautiful even burn is all about balance.
🕯️Let your candle cool before relighting, and (of course) before cutting the ball at the end of the wick.
🕯️Maintain regular trimming to help keep wick ‘mushrooming’ at bay.
🕯️Keep your candles away from direct sunlight and other heat sources. A candle left in direct sunlight may lose its scent and discolour.
🕯️To prevent tunnelling in your candle, it is important to keep it away from direct airflow, such as that from air conditioning units or drafts. Woodland & Bloom candles have undergone rigorous testing over the past two years to guarantee that, when lit correctly, tunnelling will not occur.
